About the Founder

The Honorable Judge and Reverend Kevin E. Cooper Sr.

Founder and President of Kevin Cooper Ministries LLC (KCMLLC)

Education: BA Political Science, and Master of Education Degree from University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh PA

With more than 40 years of experience embedded in government and community organizations at all levels, Kevin E. Cooper, Sr. effectively leads KCM's mission to identify and address the concerns of the community on major issues such as at-risk youth, gun violence prevention, spiritual growth, civil rights, economic equity, affordable housing, physical and mental health.

Before establishing K.COOPER MINISTRIES, Judge Kevin E. Cooper, Sr. successfully won four terms as a Fifth Judicial District of Pennsylvania, County of Allegheny, Magisterial District Court Judge. Appointed by Governor Robert Casey Jr. in 1989, Kevin Cooper, Sr. went on to serve the Magisterial District Court for 25 years. Concurrent with his role as a Magistrate, Judge Cooper, Sr. served as the Founder and Pastor of the Mulberry Community Church.

Building upon his stewardship, on many days he went from the bench to the pulpit. Ordained to ministry in 2000, Pastor Cooper Sr. enlarged the congregation of the Mulberry Community Church to more than three hundred active members. During this time, Pastor Cooper, Sr. established a 501(c)(3), Helping Hand Community Development Corporation; and conducted the First State Truancy conference. The success of the conference resulted in the reduction of truancy in the City of Pittsburgh by more than 50%.

In 2015, Judge and Pastor Kevin E. Cooper, Sr. retired from Mulberry Community Church and the Minor Judiciary of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court with all Honors bestowed.

The Honorable Kevin E. Cooper, Sr. remains committed to his civic responsibilities which include National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP-Life Member), Prince Hall Mason, Golden Star Lodge 143 Pittsburgh Elks, Member of National Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Member and Immediate Past President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated Alpha Omicron Lambda Chapter (AOL), Associate Pastor Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, Democracy for All, and Political Action Committee Treasurer.

Academic accomplishments include Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Education from the University of Pittsburgh.

Husband of 44 years to the late Adrienne Walters and father of the Honorable Judge Kevin E. Cooper, Jr. and Rachel Johnson, Esquire.

A former native of Washington, Pennsylvania, Kevin E. Cooper, Sr. has committed his life to always fighting forward to create room for others to succeed.
